Daily Candy
Red Rum. Shergar. Desert Orchid. All great legends from British stables.
But when it comes to Brit food, we’d say Mark Hix is the champion breed. From The Ivy and Le Caprice to Hix Oyster & Chop House, the man has a knack for siring icons.
Which means you’ll be jockeying for a spot at Hix, his new Soho restaurant. On the ground floor, you’ll find traditional dishes such as deep-fried whiting with mushy peas or roasted partridge, while the basement bar offers smaller dishes like pork crackling and a cured-meat board. The space has a rugged Georgian feel, peppered with modern British (what else?) art from the likes of Tracey Emin and Tim Noble.
It opened just this week, so hurry up.
We know you’re hot to trot.
