Harpers
The name has it all: HIX, the third restaurant from the excellent, eponymous Mark, has just opened on Brewer Street, Soho.
Hix Oyster & Chop House, London and Hix Oyster & Fish House, Lyme Regis have already proven his mastery of favourite British fare, so we're thrilled to see the theme spread to a fresh London hotspot.
But more adventurous foodies, don't despair: among the Aberdeenshire Porterhouse steak for two (£65.00) and the salt marsh mutton, kidney and oyster pie (£15.50) are cod's tongues with girolles (£9.50) to start, thornback ray with capers and sea purslane (£19.50) for main, and for dessert, the tantalisingly titled ‘angels on horseback'.
Once you've polished off your pudding, look heavenwards and take in cool, contemporary décor like nowhere else: neons by Tim Noble and Sue Webster, and dangling mobiles from Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Gary Hume and Miranda Donovan. The new definition of dinner and a show.
